Kidnappers booked for murder, illegal possession of weapon

MARGAO: The four kidnappers of the Chicalim resident Sayad Ayaz have been booked by the Cuncolim police for an attempt to murder as well as under the Arms act.
An offence under Section 307 IPC and 25 r/w 4 of the Arms act has been filed against the four kidnappers Parriket Dileswhar Handike, Assam, Venkantash G Shrinivas (27), Orissa, Suraj Kumar Jha, Bihar and Imid Ali, Assam after the police recorded the statements of various witnesses from Canaguinim, Betul. Police have also recovered the weapon (a pistol) that the accused used to fire at them when they were chased in the woods at Rajbhag, Cabo de Rama, Canacona.
A bag containing a knife and some documents were also left behind by the accused while trying to escape from the clutches of the police.
The Verna police had earlier detained Suraj's brother Ravi Kumar has been now arrested on the charge of murdering the driver of the Maruti van, Sudan Dabhale of Mapusa on July 17.
Ali, Suraj and his brothers have been all brought on a transfer warrant to Vasco and shall be produced in court for police custody, today, July 28. Meanwhile, the postmortem conducted of the deceased driver Dabhale has revealed that the victim was stabbed in the abdomen and chest and that the throat was slit with a sharp weapon.
Slain taxi driver cremated
Mapusa: The Mapusa police have taken in their custody Ravindra Za (26), the accused involved in the kidnapping and killing Maruti Van driver Sudan Dabhale of Belowado Ucassaim. Za has been remanded to 14 days police custody by JMFC Mapusa.
Meanwhile the last rites of the deceased Sudan Dabhale was performed yesterday evening at Ucassaim. His body was earlier handed over to the relatives after autopsy.
North Goa SP Bosco George visited Mapusa police station to take stock of the investigation and offerd a few tips to DYSP Sammy Tavares and PI Manjunath Desai along with their team. Revealing details, PI Manjunath Desai disclosed that on July 17 around 7.45 pm one Mohamad Ali and his friend hired the Maruti Van of the deceased to go to Verna. He was last seen when he went to refuel the taxi at at around 8 pm at Carvalho petrol pump at Mapusa.
CM announces compensation
PANJIM: Chief Minister Digambar Kamat yesterday announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the kin of Sudan Dabhale, a taxi driver from Ucassaim, Mapusa who was murdered by four abductors at Consua, near Cansaulim last week.
The Chief Minister also announced a compensation of Rs 25,000 to a minor girl Laxmi Nagappa Rathod, who was allegedly tormented and branded by her employers who had employed her as a maid servant.
