Mapusa cops bust gang, net rich haul

Mapusa: The Mapusa police, on Sunday, arrested three robbers and recovered stolen property worth more than Rs one lakh. The trio have been remanded to five days police custody by JMFC Mapusa.
The three thieves have been identified as Manjunath K Nagraj Achari alias Manja (26), Hanumant Karvat (22) and Sayam Karvat (19).
All three are residents of Carassco waddo-Mapusa and are natives of Karnataka.
According to PI Manjunath Desai the three accused committed are behind the thefts at Acoi, Karaswada and Gaunswado all falling within Mapusa Municipal limits.
The accused were arrested at the Banda check post while they were in a Panjim-Kolhapur MSRTC bus.
Head Constble Arjun Gauns, Sushant Korgaonkar, PC Nilesh Parab, Dinesh Satelkar, Sushant Chopdekar and Prabhakar alias Patrick Parab arrested the accused.
Police have recovered stolen articles such as two cooking gas stoves, cylinders, 3 TV sets, 8 water pumps, one fan, 2 DVD players and Crockery. PI Manjunath Desai assisted by PSI Uday Parab is conducted the investigation under the supervision of DySp Sammy Tavares.
Meanwhile, ASI Shankar Yeram and his team while on night patrolling duty at Housing Board on then night of July 26 night arrested one Govind Pujari (30) and Shivappa Nayak while they were attempting to steal an electricity transformer at Ganeshpuri.
